Intel ® Ethernet Fusion Network Adapter X540-T2 (Intel) ® The Ethernet CNA X540-T2 is the latest innovation of Intel's leadership, aimed at driving 10Gb Ethernet into a broader server market. This adapter is equipped with Intel's latest Ethernet chip - Intel ® The Ethernet controller X540 is used by many OEM manufacturers as a single-chip solution for motherboard LAN (LOM) to provide 10 Gb Ethernet (10 GbE) on the latest server platforms. The X540 series products can be used in conjunction with existing networks today. It can be used in conjunction with traditional Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switches and CAT-6a cabling. Installing the X540 adapter into the server, automatic negotiation between 1 GbE and 10 GbE provides the necessary backward compatibility for most customers to smoothly transition and easily migrate to 10 GbE. If time and budget permit, 10GBASE-T switches can be added at any time to experience all the benefits of 10 GbE.
